Georgian language department to be established in Armenia
The Armenian and Georgian Ministers of Education made a decision on establishment of Georgian language department at Yerevan State Linguistic University.

During the April 16 meeting, Armenian Minister of Education Armen Ashotyan and his Georgian counterpart Dmitry Shashkin made a decision on establishment of Georgian language department at Yerevan State Linguistic University.

They also discussed prospects of boosting cooperation in the education field, as well as new education programs providing representatives of national minorities with preferential terms for entrance to higher education institutions.

At the initiative of the Georgian President, national minorities’ representatives will be accepted by Georgian higher education institutions based on general skills exam in 2010. Students will study the Georgian language for a year that will allow continuing their further education in Georgian. Besides, the Georgian state will pay for education of 100 Armenian and 100 Azerbaijani students receiving high scores during exams in this country.
